Happy Halloween!

This is Evan's first year of trick-or-treating and although he has no idea what it means he had a lot of fun. We didn't go to many houses but he seemed to figure out the routine. He knew that when I knocked on the door people would come and greet us so before anyone came to the door he was yelling 'Hi' very enthusiastically. He also LOVED the pumpkins and everyone's animals. He even walked right into one couple's house to play with their cats and cried when we left yelling out 'cat, cat'. I forgot how much fun Halloween was, it will be exciting taking him out in the coming years.

Sleeping In Late

We have had an amazing October here in Seattle. Normally October is when the rainy season begins but this month it was sunny almost everyday. With very little rain and wind the leaves have been falling slower and it is the prettiest fall season I have experienced in Seattle. The area we moved to is more mountainous so the seasonal change is much more dramatic as well. Today however the clouds and rain have moved in and I am guessing they are here to stay for awhile unfortunately.

Evan wakes up consistently between 7-8 am but today he slept in really late, almost until 10. It is likely that because it was so dark out that he probably thought it was not time to get up. You might think this is a great thing because who would not want to sleep in a little later themselves. In my overly protective paranoid mind it meant something must be terribly wrong. I debated going in to check on him for fear of waking him up knowing how I tend to have an overactive imagination. I took a shower with the monitor turned all the way up so I could here any peep he might make. After my shower I still heard no signs of him stirring, naturally as any first time Mom I assumed the worst. I assumed he had been kidnapped and could no longer abate my fears and quietly crept into his room. There he was was fast asleep safe in his crib. What is so comical about this insane thought that I had is that apparently I am not alone. I was talking to my friend Joy this morning and before I told her about the events in my morning she shared with me that she thought her daughter must have been kidnapped when she did not wake at her normal time. This validated that I am not in fact crazy since someone else shared in my fears! Either that or it means both Joy and I are crazy which is also very likely...

Big Boy Haircut

My mother-in-law, Kay, and I took Evan to get his hair cut today at a place that specializes in kids' haircuts. It was quite an operation. They had a designated play area for the kids while you were waiting, and to keep kids occupied during their haircut they had various vehicles for them to sit in all with their own monitor with Barney playing! He was not too happy about the whole ordeal but he did great - no whining and no tears. The last picture is Evan post haircut looking like a big boy and not a baby anymore...sniff...sniff.

Fun Fall Day

The Devereuxs came by to see our new house today and then we spent the rest of the day at a local farm called Remlinger Farms. Evan
was already tired when we got there so I was nervous as to how he was going to do but he loved it. None of us had ever been so we didn't know what to expect. We figured it was a typical pumpkin patch with some barn animals thrown in but it was similar to an amusement park. They had a hay maze, pony rides, petting zoo, roller coaster...He was completely wiped by the end and was falling asleep on the train ride that we took through the Farm.

It's Official We are Moving!

The documents have all been signed, the movers are scheduled, we are packed (mostly...) and ready to move into our new house next week! It has all happened incredibly fast. Our house had two offers within a week and we were able to find a new house after scouring the entire Eastside. We are ready to move but it will be somewhat bitter sweet since Evan was born in this house.

Ferry Ride

Evan had his first ferry ride today and he had a blast. He was running around the deck of the ship saying 'wow', it was too cute!
